Hello just saying hello to you all. I am in the process of selling my 405mi16 as don't need a big saloon car anymore and was thinking of getting a polo 1.4 16v. I've got about £2500 to spend and would like something with a few mods but nothing over the top. Insurance ain't a prob as i am an old git and have loads of ncb. My main question is if i was gonna tune it whats the best option I know it will never be as fast as my 405 but i can live with that i just need some thing to go to work and back in but can still hold it's own on b roads around here. Also whats the consensous on alloys big or small?.To my mind vw's are one of the few cars you can get away with having small rims and still make it look good.

I've had a good look round and this seems like a pretty clued up forum i just fancy going back to a little hatch after spending 2 years in the MI i've looked and driven loads but the polo seems to have everything i need good looks, economy, nippy and reliable (as much any car can be)

look forward to getting to know all and please excuse some of my glaringly obvious questions and if any of you want to know anything about peugeots drop me a line  cheers Lee

I am under no illusion that it will be nowere near as fast as the mi as it is running 45mm throttle bodies a ton load of head work custom stainless exhaust with a few other bits and pieces but a i said i don't need a stupidly fast car anymore and the money i save from not having to buy shares in shell every 2 days will be a welcome relief i love my mi to bits but it's just not practical anymore huge fun yes practical not a chance 14mpg hurts these days lol just want something to have a bit of fun in i thinki i am gonna go full on euro with it i've already sourced a smooth tail gate, and some coilovers to slam it on its arse also got some old audi 80 door handles which i'm gonna graft on as well it should be quite a cool little motor just got to find one now 8)

There are some performance chips sold these days (cheapest on ebay). Some are better than others... there are some stating to increase only 5bhp and others up to 20...

My friend bought one and you could feel a little extra power but personally I wasn't too impressed.
