Hello all,
First off congratulations on a first class forum, it's a mine of information.
I took delivery of my 02 plate 1.2E (55) polo (3dr) a few days ago.
1 previous Lady owner, 31.500 on the clock. It came with a 30,000
mile service (lube) 6mnths Tax, and 12Mnth MOT.
I got 12 mnth warranty and 12mnth assistance thrown into the deal.
I've just spent the last day reading through ALL 25 pages of this forum.
I keep telling myself i've done the right thing, and you never know, i might have got a good one, well i hope i'm right.
I haven't got any rattles at all.
What i have got is the engine seems to be idling roughly, more so when it's warm, like the idle needs to be turned up !
According to the VW stealer there's no alarm, but i have the flashing red led on the door, is this right ?
for the last 7 months i've had a Mitsubishi Shogun 3.0 V6, so as you can imagine Driving the Polo is a bit different, there seems to be a lot more road noise.
Obviously the M.P.G. is a bonus. I was getting 22 out of the Shogun.
I did read in a thread for a fix for a whining gearbox involving replacing
the g/box oil with a synthetic version, think i will be taking it in for this,
or are they all like that ?
Also will i be able to request a service and repair history from the stealers ? and will this cost me anything ?
And finally, assuming that there is no alarm installed, would i be better off
going with a VW alarm ? if so does anyone know what they cost, fitted ?

Well, thats it for now, i'm sure something else will crop up.

Thanks for reading.

a rough idea. i have a 1.2 65 E polo and was quoted £200 from a specialist alarm dealer. i think it was a toad they were going to put on mine.
not sure what vw will charge if they do it, but chances are it will be more expensive and their labour charge will be way over the top

Thank you all for the warm welcome, and also for the info.
I spent yesterday d/loading all the pdf files on here with regards to mods, just need to find the cash to fund them.
I dont mind throwing money at an object of desire
It's just a bit soon after the shock of keeping a 12 year old Shogun in good nick and topped up with fuel, to be honest i did not want to see it go, it was in A1 condition for it's age, but it turned into a labour of love.
I've got a feeling this Polo will be along similar lines though
All the pics on here are of extremely well looked after vehicles, you should be proud of the time and effort you have put in.
I cant put a pic of mine up yet because i need some alloys on first.....wheel trims....the shame of it :P
The list of things to do to it is endless, and it looks like my post count will be rising also.
Thanks again for the info, much appreciated.
