I disagree - For all the reasons below

- it keeps this part of the forum mega clean from chit chat contamination.

- It's a gallery and as such a portfolio of what can be done to all models of polo.

- It's often the first place new members go and look (maybe for inspiration)

- Some people don't want comments on their car

I often go through the gallery and delete posts with broken links

If you want some replies about the car - link to the post in members rides by copying the address line into a new post in either chit chat or the relevant section for the model of car ie MKI, MKII, MKIII/GT etc etc

Carried on from above

Pictures updated in members rides - click on the link below

Please feel free to comment in this thread......

PS - I do NOT want comments about my car in the thread - it's just an example

But you are the only (or one of a very little group) that has done such a portfolio on you car.

Would it not be possible then if you clearly state you dont want comments then its left at that :(

still think its best to keep the members ride section clean, and if you want comments then perhaps post your car in the required mark section.

i can see both points of view, sometimes i wouldnt mind to b able to reply to ppl posts about their car but then again if you really have something 2 say/ask the person then you could pm them.

It def does keep that section clean which is good IMO

I'm sorry but I have to agree with Bstardchild.

I'm sure that previously it was allowed for members to post comments after other members posted photos of their car but this was changed after all the comments making it messing and sometimes annoying as there would be several posts...then a photo....then several more posts...you get the picture!

I think the current set up works well, I've had some comments via pm's which I think is a lot nicer and more personal.

One other point.......

I did what I did to my Polo because I wanted to - as most people have done to theirs - I don't really want any "change the wheels, slam it, the estate wiper looks poo, etc etc" comments

Like this (I'm not saying porka.net is wrong or worse or better and I'm not picking on Gareth either it just highlighted what I mean - incidently it was the first one I looked at too)

http://www.porka.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=425

I'm not meaning to be offensive here either but do you really want ll the posts in members rides to be like this?

I have a rule I rarely break - if I can't say something nice - better to say nothing at all

Err - maybe - but then I've added to the post over a period of time - thats why it's so damn long

WHY - people would still comment - miss the statement etc - if people want comments they find ways round the members ride restriction - link to a post in chit chat or the relevant section for their car?

I'm not knocking the idea - please don't think that but you'll have to trust me this way really works best 8)
