Dear All,

Just collected my new motor last night, really pleased with it...but there are a few questions I would like to put forward to other owners...

The remote central locking/alarm, does it make a sound when you switch it on/off? Mine flashes and thats about it.

Is there meant to be a buzzer when I leave the lights on and take the keys out of the ignition switch? Mine doesn't and it stumped the saleperson 'cos he didn't know either...

Thanks.

Thanks, but what I meant was the buzzer indicating that I had taken the keys out of the ignition and opened the door yet the headlights are still switched on...mine doesn't sound and I thought it's pretty much a standard on most cars...

And another thing...when I got the car there were two keys with the remote and one plastic/security key for the wallet/purse but there was no small tag with the key number on it if you know what I mean. The code you need to give to the dealer if you need another key...the salesperson said that they don't provide them anymore because the new key would be encoded with the other existing key...is this right?

Besides these little niggly bits the car drives like a dream, the sound of the engine is like music to my ears...!

ok yeah thats the buzzer mk5`s have so open the fuse pannel and then theres 2 large headed screws (cant remember if there torx or phillips) and undo them then the fuse box will fold down revealing the relays (i think its a while since ive done it) then check there all in there tight

they can get you new keys from your vin number as long as its still the original key set that it was built with (maybe dealers can update this thou  )

My spare has a plastic tag with bar code etc IIRC...

And my buzzer goes on when the key is out of the ignition, lights are on, and drivers door is open (however, my interior light doesn't come on as soon as you pull the key out of the ignition... I'm sure it used to...) Can you let me know if yours does that?

The buzzer should only come on once your key is out of the ignition, the lights switch is on and the door is opened.
Josh - the interior light does come on once you pull the key out of the ignition, nice touch from VW i think! Looks like another trip to the dealer??
