I just dont get the point of it when you could have a Caddy....
Seen a couple polo pickups before and they just seem to be more about proving a point than being used for a practical purpose. Guys who actually use an old mk2 or mk3 squareback as a business hack-about just drop the rear seats to lob all the large items and tools inside, and put a roofrack on for ladders etc, as it's fairly easy access even when things are inside or are heavy.
This way you can't put a rack on, load it up to the roofline, or even tilt the passenger seat forwards to fit a large thing from the tailgate through to the windscreen - such as a flatpack CD rack from ikea - and so it's less practical and has far less usable loadspace... I bet the tailgate doesn't even flip down, so getting heavy things in and out is harder too.
What would you use it for, apart from carting a single tall washing machine around, etc?
Colour isn't too bad, but I bet they'd have a hard time explaining the choice. Maybe they were trying to recreate a Skoda Fun on a budget?
But ...... why oh why subject a GT to this, when a 1.3 CL would be a lot more of an obvious target for load lugging and the type of lower speed driving that a pickup would take on? You're not going to want to blaze around (and wont be able to with the wrecked aerodynamics and probable tons of scuttle shake), but will be happy for lower end torque.
Leaving the 3F engine free to go off and terrorise housing estates and sales reps on the M1 in a coupe or even a squareback.

So I'm alone in thinking that's really cool?
Could do with being brighter though.

well it is a nice unique project vs the legion of "pimped" saxos out there
just a bit ....... modern art

its a disgrace. The original car was an India Red GT hatch which is a rare as fook combination in this country.

Its a good concept, but the colour is awful and like Gaz said its a total disgrace that an India Red GT Hatch was chopped to pieces and used as a bright yellow pick-up, oh well each to their own huh?

To be fair, how many people research whether their car's paintjob is rare or not before they do something like this? I agree it's a shame, but you can't really blame the guy for it.
