really a general question here

i was taking off my wheels today and the bolts are really stiff, finally got them off with a fair bit of force with the socket wrench

is there any way i can prevent this for next time? ive seen garages apply some substance when theyre putting wheels on, what is this? :?

cheers

sure you can get it from halfords! the only thing about putting copper grease on the wheel bolts is that it can effect the torque settings! but i think a little will go along way! 8)

local motor factors will probably be cheaper than halfords

Copper grease for Steel rims
Black grease for alloys

Dont ask me how dont ask me why, my last boss, had been in the tyre game for about 30 years we always did it that way

i avoid using copper slip on my alloys, however i do use a little between the face of the disk and the wheel to stop the wheel from sticking to the car!

had to hit the wheels when i got the G to loosen them up to get them off, they were stuck tight!

Copper grease is not the best thing to use as it can actually begin to "weld" the wheel to the hub, white grease is good (but there probably is something better)
