Well went to the Karting track the other week, if you've never been, do it.

It was immense. Teams of 2 doing 15 minute stints for an hour, my team mate hated her 15 mins so I did the whole 45 minutes after

I was really ill after because of the fumes and the heat of the helmet / jumpsuit...

Wicked fun though, I was nervous at first but soon had the back out round the U bends :D :D

Had a nice pileup too, my future father in law clipped the back on a corner and slammed me into the barriers at 30, leaving the rest of the pack to crush me!

I want to go again

Go-karting is always quality :)
even if it's awful little kiddy lawnmower engined putt-putts that do all of 10mph you can have a laugh with a group of you... the fast ones are so much better though as it feels like a formula one star (and the tracks have some planning and gradient to them)!

getting an extra run over what you paid for is +50% quality :D

Hey Mitch...

Can't remember the name of the track... I too was sh*tting it, I had never been and am learning to drive also...

It's easy trust me, you'll do 5 laps slowly and cautiously and then you'll get more confidence and rag it. It's not like driving in real life, there's no gears it's just a stop and go pedal :D

Turn hard and floor it, drifting is awesome :D
Let us know how it goes!

When another car site i use went to Billing Aquadrome for a weekend we all had a race around the go kart track.

15 mins of pure fun! Like Mike said - you will go easy for a few laps then when your used to it and the confidence rises you start having more fun as you drift/power slide round corners.

I broke my kart doing that though lol but it magically popped back into place with some nice words of encouragement and i was off again.

I got flagged for "double peddling" a lot too... Like keeping the revs up while braking so I could storm the straight quicker... apparantly Kart clutches don't like it

I got told off for not stopping on a red too... my brakes were crap... that's not an excuse either, I couldn't actually stop!

Lmao.

Hmm, I said it initially with no seriousness, but now that I think about it- would be quite a good meet, no?

best. summer. ever. ---- (and best parenting, too)

'rents sent me on a two-weekend karting course one school summer hols when i was in early secondary. it was bloody wicked.... best bit not just getting tuition in how to really storm the corners without killing yourself, etc (tips i still use in GT on the playstation :D meaning the go-kart-like fiat 500 can, sometimes, come 5th or 4th against the AI, instead of last), but beautiful long, extended practice runs on the track and a monster 20 lap all-in championship race at the end of it all.

it was probably a future-F1-star selection pimping ground or something that i never cottoned on to (didnt do well enough to be propositioned, of course, but far from last), god knows how much it cost them, but ... truly wicked. 15 minutes is a rush, but just not enough.

and i got in the schtuck for that kind of antics too..... holding the club hire kart on the brake and throttle at the starting line to get a better take off (rather than just holding brake then switching to throttle on green like we were supposed to), doing a there-and-back slalom thing then charging up the straight at the end of it, big smoky 180 degree slide in celebration at acing it and getting a hell of a black-mark b0ll0cking for it..... good times :D

.....hmmm..... how much might a club outing be...
