im guessing its a 1.3 CL or Genesis, so have 55bhp (i think) apposed to 1.3GT (has 75)

all depends on how high but most ppl are @ 100k & not heard of any probs. 2 of the 3 mk3 polos ive owed have had well over 100k & there been no probs, so pretty much indestructable. :D

I had a MKII 1.3 and it had 185K on the clock and ran better than my 1997 R reg MKIV

On reflection went better - a hell of a lot better - bloody low reving torquey lumps suck!!!

if its had a hard time you may eventually need to go as far as me and do a little rebuild on it (gaskets, piston rings, bearings, clean the head & valves up a bit etc) to get it back to full health, but they should run and run and run if you look after them. they're pretty hardcore. i dont think these cars often fail on the basis of core bodywork or engine, unless the belt goes..

if it's a 1.3 with the economy 5th gear transmission, and treated gentle, it'll go even longer

the 1.0s can get a bit stressed - lower ratio differential, often kept longer in the lower gears anyway, needs a lot of stick to maintain motorway speed, etc....
