Hope these help.
Please excuse the state of the interior, it's been too bloody hot to clean the car the last few weeks!

Mole, you are 100% a star! Cheers mate.
Now all I wonder is if I can modify the rear cup holder to take the armrest or fit the Golf centre console...

Wish I knew, but me thinks there has to be a way of mounting the armrest

You might want to use babelfush to make sense of that. But be aware, that the page numbers on the bottom right of the thread pages won;t work in "translation mode", you'll have to browse to the page in german and cut and paste the url for that thread into babelfish. But then again, you might speak german!
This is the site with the part for the 9n listed (in German

)

Good luck!!
(Although, have you already sourced a part that you plan to use?)

Well further investigation has shown that it is very hard to fit the armrest as it doesn't just need to sit in the plastic but also click in underneath in the actual metal of the car.
I am not going to give up but put this idea on hold for a while

So that's why the armrest was rock solid on my Golf.
