Best bet is always to wait mate unless you're 100% sure it's a camera and know you were speeding. Hope this helps

I would too, although I suppose if it was for speeding and you were, one of the Motorbikes would have came and pulled you over

has that helped ease your mind?

That's what I mean, if it was for speeding then they would have pulled you, as they didn't, chances are its the ANPR van checking tax etc that seems to be big at the minute.

They check the tax from the numberplate using a remote link to the PNC (forget what the new in-car system is called, but it's a serious peice of kit). Even if you hadn't got the disk in, it wouldn't have flagged you up.

we had this situation in my town a lil while ago, before the queen came down, and other important events happened.
Like has been said, it checks tax, reg plates against those stolen or knowingly used by gangs, and checks insurance also.
They would only pull you over for speeding if u were seriously doing over the limit.
the cameras are in the middle of the road, and the bikes would pull you over at the other end, if one of the above mentioned was relevant to the vehicle you were driving.
Hope this helps?

Yeah, is Automatic Number Plate Recognition and as mentioned, picks up Tax, Insurance, MOT and if there is any other marks against the car, like prone to nuisance driving etc. So as omicron said, as long as you have tax you'd be alright unless a copper actually sees you're not displaying a disc, then you'll get pulled.

Yeah, ANPR - that's the one. Thanks lads
As for placement of the disc on the screen, I think all they can do is ask you to put it in the right place. I remember sitting in a pub (not drinking) looking out of the window, watching a 5 foot tall WPC trying to check the disc in the upper nearside corner of my truck's windscreen
I was verging on taking a stool out for her to stand on.
