HELP, suspension problem

Hi all,

Just taken our Fabia 1.4 16v (51 reg) in for it's MOT. Failed due to cracked bushes on the front suspension.

It's only done 25,000 and our mechanic says that there is no way these should have deteriorated so soon. He went in to the local dealership and, whilst he was waiting, heard one of the service guys ringing a customer to bring his in, under warranty, for exactly the same problem. Our warranty ran out last year and now the dealers are saying that this is just "one of those things".

Has anyone else heard of this being a problem?

Very disappointed at the dealers attitude because, up til now, i've been really happy with our "furby" and raving to everyone about how good they are.

This has left a bit of a bitter taste as, although the bushes only cost £6 each, the stealership are charging £235 labour to fit them!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Bouff.

If your car is out of warranty, may I ask why you've taken it to the dealers to have it fixed?

We all know that dealers are a proper rip off.

Find yourself a decent VAG Specialist and take it there for a quote.

I've heard of a few people with Fabia's having problems with the front bushes, but this is usually after lots of very hard driving / lowered suspension.

As josh said try another VAG specialist and get a qoute.

You "could" try contacting Skoda UK with the complaint to see if they may meet you half way on the labour charge, doubt it would work but you never know until you try

From that, i take it that he hasn't actually taken it to the dealership, but to another garage... or not ? :?
