Thermostat

It looks like my thermostat has failed, luckily in the open position.

Is it easy to change? Whats the easiest way to drain the coolant? When replacing, does it need a new gasket?

So many questions, but too tight to buy a workshop manual.

Thanks in anticipation.

I had something simila. My water pump failed and caused the theromstat to Over extend punching the thermostat housing out locking the thermo closed, yes I bent the head.
Water and coolant can be removed by undooing the radiator bottom hose and filling a bucket. The thermosts housing in my 6n is plastic and had a rubber seal but some gasget sealant might be a good idea too.

pretty straight forward to change....aint got to drain all the coolant just the header tank

then IIRC all u need is a 10mm socket and ratchet!
