Afternoon guys.
Been Looking high and low for a great gt the past few months, just wondered what sort of gt i could get for about £1500 and is there anything to look out for when buying one?
And are there any insurance companies that would be best to go with?

£1500 should buy you something very low mileage, mint condition and without a single problem.
Most of them swap hands for less than £800 these days and you can get something very clean and tidy for that money.

There's a G40 in the for sale section for only £100 more

, or you can get a real mint of a GT with change left.

Excellent, thats what i wanted to hear!
Is anyone on here thinking of selling their gt in the next few months,i can only take my mk2 golf(which has no heating) for a little longer!
I was looking at the g40 earlier, very tempting, but the fact that im only nearly 19,i think that is something to aim for. Also agree with the statement 'dont run before you can walk' as regards to the g and my lack of driving experience.

Yeah, lol, you'll end up spending more on the insurance each year than the price of the car!

i can't remember the exact groupings any more, but a vanilla 1.3 spi squareback (CL, genesis etc) might suit your insurance budget and experience better
plus you can still claw some victories out of it

Yea i understand where your coming form with the insurance and stuff but money isnt the most important factor.
Got about £7000 coming in soon from an accident i had a year ago, head on with a female bmw driver, wrecked my mk1 golf and put me in hospital!
So want something that looks the dogs but also be loads of fun and reliable!
Not that im getting desparate or anything but Is No one Ever gonna Sell a tuned GT on here?

Its all about looking around and not waiting for them to come to you.

I might be in the market for selling my GT. Only recently got it, but cant afford it any longer.
Bought it for £550, and i'm looking to sell it for the same price.
Has got FULL service history. The previous owners have had everything put into the book, even things they've written with their own hand showing what was done to the car on that date.

On a side note:- if i can find a garage to store it in, i'll mark it as SORN and it won't be sold.

How rare are GT's to buy and how much work is needed on a GT that sells for £800?
