There's no reason they wouldn't believe it's not your mum's car mate although it has a few mods, as far as they know she may have bought it like that.

I was pulled in my last car which was registered to my mum and isurance etc. he didn't ask me who's car it was or anything, I don't even think he ran it on the PNC, all he asked me was if I had any ID, luckily my licence was in my pocket, then he gave me a Hort1 (Producer) and a Vehicle Deffect Rectification Slip

Suppose the best thing is to try it and see what they say.

i still am on my dads,theres not a great deal they can do,its all legitimate at the end of the day,dont worry matey,it happens to me regularly and i just explain,nothings ever happened ,,(touch wood)

as far as i knew it was all legal? it's registered in your mum's name, she's the main driver and your a named driver so it should be no more a problem than if it was registered and insured under your name...although you might get a little attitude from the cops until they've checked your insurance (depending on if he just got dumped by his girlfriend etc)

It is technically illegal, but I know lots of people who have done it/still do it.

Considering how extortionate it is insuring a car it's hardly surprising, I only did this for a year on mine.

Just say it's your Mum's car, if she's prepared to stand up and say it is what can they do?

Yes, it's illegal providing they can prove you're the main driver and not your mum - but at the point they pull you over the police have no idea whatsoever. it would take a hefty court case to prove you were the main driver.

anyone could mod their mum's car to any extent, and that doesn't mean anything. you could quite easily be the 2nd driver as far as they know.

the police may question you, but thousands upon thousands of young drivers are insured this way - and everyone knows it.

1) Unlikely that you'll be pulled over
2) you're insured to drive the car so no worries there
3) Theres a few mods, so what...
4) Just be very polite & act dumb (weird combination eh?)
5) If it gets tough... Step on it.... You played nfs:mw you know what to do....but remember you have no NOS so you can press your horn instead and imagine speed bursts

Wouldn't worry about it mate, everyone does it for the first couple of years! The thing the police are concerned about is cars that DON'T have insurance - you do because you are a named driver! The car IS insured!

The only time you have to worry is if they find out your mum never drives the car, they get funny about that, named drivers are allowed to drive the car but aren't really supposed to be the 'main driver' but the cahnces of them finding that out are none, unless you've got any strange vans constantly following you around like this

i normally explain ,im simply a 2nd driver on this vehicle officer,but my car all the same.ive never had any probs at all,not worth there time at all,

i've been pulled over about 5 times and each time they ask for license and insurance, so I just keep a photocopy of it in the glove box and they always accept it, saves the hassle of going to produce it at the police station.
