Nice pics... I'll try and be there too next year.
But uhm... what's the explanation for this:
Anyway, Rob, love the car!

i dont quite understand that either.... has to be one of the most stupid things i have seen. in a crash a loose cage like that wuld be hella dangerous!! BUT.... even if it was bolted in, the cage is still the wrong shape for the car!!
Form over function.
I dont get it, but whatever floats ya boat...

Why did you decide to take a picture of me on the Sunday, when I was sunburnt, unshaven and tired (not to mention the bad haircut!)
This is more worrying though...
I'm experiencing deja vu here though...
Perhaps when it comes to tacky poses UK-POLOS.NET are the best!

That's true Rob - even if it was bolted in... still wouldn't fit to help safety!
Besides, if you have a cage, wouldn't you be more prone to head injuries if you bang your head to on of the bars? I'd say get some 4 point harnasses and full bucket seats too... And weld that cage into place!
Oh well.

Its a 1.0 CL, got chatting to the bloke about it (as did Rob I think) and I was amazed at how cheaply he'd managed to get it to that state. (I think he said the wheels and tyres cost him about £195

)

Sod 56k, even on cable this took forever!
Good to see so many nice show cars being made out of plain 45 / 55hp CLs, squarebacks even. That blue mk3 with the round airbox under the hood even made me double take for a second as the view (minus that essential and oh-so-shiny supplemental intake pipe) looked so familiar. Such nice waxing and cool wheels paired with a 1-litre lump, puts me in mind of the "Pimp Panda" that mysteriously rolls round my hometown.
Doug&Dan, where you at? Mines a Navy 1043 4-speed too, but it's a 'hearse' type rather than a coupe

.. maybe give you a race sometime to determine the king of shapes? (hehe)
All this gives me a little hope for shining my own banger up for the future after an age on the Polo-starved VWVortex boards... got a better stereo and speakers, some nice fogs on the front and the mechanics mostly sorted (missing breather, stodged gearshift and inevitable nagging-exhaust problems excepted)... just gotta sort out the awful paintwork which I didn't make any better for trying to fix. Have you done any spraying yourself? If so, what exact colour/techniques would you reccomend?
Sorry, n00b overload, I know.
Well, have a nice night, see yows later.
