Apparently the software with the Walkman will "transcribe" WMA files into a useable format for it.

However a lot of reviews on Amazon have slated the Connect software as being slow and useless.

I read that this time around the player will accept ATRAC and MP3 format on to the memory.
A nice change from previous players where the only accepted format was the ATRAC extension.
Had two Sony MP3 players in the past - both were like this. Something I never liked as you had to convert any song you wanted on there first, obviously.

yeah i think so. if it like apple's itunes (which converts straight to AAC format) then it should do! wouldn't be much point otherwise!

ATRAC Plus is 64kbps I think. I notice the quality straight away. I notice quality loss at 128kbps though, I gotta have everything above 160 at least
