I got some aero wipers for my gti ages ago, when i was fitting them i was in a bit of a rage and managed to bend one of them .

Its been 3 months now and i cant remember which side i bent, are the 2 different or do i just order another one for either side?

out of curiousity, how easy are they to fit?

very easy, but take your time, i got a bit frustrated and bent mine

Did you get them from VAG parts?
I wanna do the same to mine soon & do the rear too!
Was that easy if you did it?

My personal view is that the front wipers arent worth the effort!

They only have one hinge whereas the normal ones have two. This makes them sit a bit strangely and also means you cant bend them back to clean them or the windscreen as the bonnet gets in the way.

Mine also judder and are noisey, and I also had to file the underside of the drivers side wiper arm to stop it fouling on the rubber strip at the bottom of the bumper...

maybe I got some bad ones but I wasnt impressed...!

On the plus side, the rear one is definitely worth doing!!

I've got these probelms too, partly because I haven't tinkered with them much to get them sitting quite right. I'm going back to standard on the front, so the Lupo aero arms will be up for grabs when I make the switch back to standard - I threw the original arms away in good faith!

Sounds like you have just got them on wrong, have a play about!

I've played with them quite a lot...

the problem is that as they wipe up the screen, the middle section of the blade lifts off the screen slightly. I think this is because they are not being pushed onto the screen properly, as I said it seems to be to do with the pivot.

I had the same problems with mine and took them off, I'm halfway through fitting the aeros to the standard arms, have them on the car, just need to tidy them visually with a bit of satin black paint when the weather gets better.
No noise problems with them so far, will let you know how I get on and post some pics when finished

It's the arms that cause the problems, so fitting the aero blades to a pair of standard-fit Polo arms is a top idea

I know I could fiddle about with mine and get them sorted but I'm going to go back to standard, and maybe de-wiper the back end too

Only once in over two years of ownership have I really needed the rear wiper to clear grime and filth from the rear of the car whilst on the move...

Whats the differenc between standard ane the aero wipers? Are they just smaller?

The aero wipers are Bosch wipers from later VWs and other VAG cars. They're creeping onto other manufacturer's vehicles now too, which is cool. They look like this:



They're about the same size as the original wipers, which is why they can be swapped over, but the Lupo offside wiper arms that you need two of don't quite fit right. I find that the driver's side wiper arm fouls the scuttle panel - this can be fixed but I haven't gotten off my lazy arse to do it!

The rear wiper, from a later-model 9n Polo, is a straightforward swap for the old item, all you have to do is cut down the length of the wiper blade as it's too large as standard and hits the rear spoiler when it sweeps the screen!

The ones that flop when you lift them up, also found on Audis? I think my mum and dad's Audi Cab has them ones.

Dont you find that the back of the car just attracts grime? there must be some sort of vortex that sucks dirt onto the rear screen of mine when its raining...especially when travelling at speed!

My back windscreen gets covered in crap very easily, especially on the motorway in the wet. Couldnt live without the rear wiper and washer in winter.
