Driving my car round the last couple of days, I was low on petrol and she went all jerky and I thought I was bout to run out of petrol. Now have a full tank (of the right stuff :) ) but still having problems with jerkiness. It seems to be when I am in 3rd gear after pulling away and often when going uphill. Goes all jerky, like there's no fuel/ power getting through. Would be really grateful please if anyone has ideas what this might be...? I am under warranty, but bit of a trek to garage and don't really wanna go there unecessarily! Thanx!

Sounds silly, but are you sure your revs aren't too low if you're in 3rd gear?

you shouldn't be pulling away from standstill in 3rd ever, not sure if this is what you mean.

I accidently changed from 1st to 4th the other day  and the car managed to carry on, then again I did accelerate up to 40.

I done it again somehow afterwards, but had to change back into second

Oops! Obviously didn't explain myself very well  ! Anyway, car has now been in to garage & has a new coil pack & plug leads - no more misfiring :D

Thanks for help and advice - have a great Christmas everyone!!!!

I frequently skip gears, take hand off girl friends leg then change from 2nd - 5th and put hand back again! :)

Yeah did sound like ignition - but try not to run out or even low on fuel, it doesn't do it any good.

Happy driving.

its sure that running low on fuel doesnt do any good, on the contrary it does bad, u can burn the fuel pump, fuel works like lubrication in the pump :)
