My indicator noise and empty petrol accompnying sound failed recently so I took the car into the dealers yesterday - they reckon I need a new Dash Pod.

Can anyone have a look on VAG-com for me and tell me exactly what this part is as the servicing guy did not really know.

Cheers

Today I have taken my Polo to the dealer for the same reason!! No sound from the dash board. No indicator noise nor any other sound! I though I was the only one with this problem! cool!!
They told me the same as you: replace the entire dash-board. But as my Polo is still in warranty period they'll exchange it, and what's better, they will maybe replace it and put a dash-board with the full MFA (the red dot-matrix screen between the rev and speed counters)!!! COOL!!! :D :D :D I hope they'll be able to do so, becouse i LOVE the full MFA!! :P

BTW, I thought the blinker indicators sound was a mechanical 'click', but it is obious that its electronically generated! strange, isn't it?

Great - that was my thinking but the dealerships (some) don't give a damn and can't be bothered to tell you anything.

The service guy said it was not the dashpod including clocks just the electronics behind it. To be 100% we really need someone to find out what this part is on the VW electronic catalogue.

Thanks for the response.

Today my dealer called me to tell me that the dash-board will arrive on tuesday next week :( So he confirmed they have to exchange the entire dash-board (so maybe with the BIG MFA! :D)
But the funny thing is that he told me that the problem was caused by my CD Player. They argued that I istalled it incorrectly and a bad connection caused that problem in the dash :? any of you think it could be possible? Not me... The installation of the cd player is as easy as plug the standard ISO connector, so i did't cut any cable!
Anyway he said it will be in warranty... :)

Oh! A question to you, des_pd_ tdi: When you put the warning lights and the interior light is on, do you noticed that the interior lights goes a bit darker when the indicatos blink and lighter when they doesn't? (i hope you understand me becouse my english is so bad  )

it cant be a problem with the CD player or that would have made the warrenty invalid?

sounds like rubbish to me

Not noticed that problem but my interior light does not always switch on when I remote open the doors. Dodgy vdub electrics.

I also have an aftermarket cd player - using the existing iso connectors. My dealer also tried to blame the stereo. I just came back with the reply, 'These problems started before I even fitted it so don't try and invalidate my warranty'

I tell you I'm getting so fedup with dealerships recently - it's making me look round for another brand of car.

Yes. I though the same but they told me there was no problem with the warranty so I think they said it to have an excuse so I couldn't blame them for bad quality parts or something...
I don't mind becouse they'll replace it with no charge for me! :)
