Over the last 702.4 miles my 1.6 spi has averaged 42.7 mpg
I wonder what it would be ike with mpi/1.4 ratios?!

My last fill-up, I done 218miles on a tank of Asda supermarket stuff. Not sure if it was just £25 worth or maybe even £30... I do remember running it till flashing.
Switched over to Shell Unleaded when the prices dropped a few weeks ago, only put in £15 and managed 129miles so far, put in another £15 and got a total of over 230miles so far with at least a quarter tank left. So doing pretty good on my mpg, but not too sure on my mpg value.

Done 306miles on the above 3 tanks of £15 worth. ie 34.5 ltrs
Some 40.3mpg...
Next tank, stuck in 3Ls of BP Ultimate as was on the red... see if it cleans up my engine, then 34.5Ls of Shell Unleaded.
Doubt if I can get as high as 42mpg.

Can't speak for modern VW's specifically, but I find I get a fair few less MPG when I run on supermarket fuel.
I had to redo the timing on my Mk2 when I filled it up with tesco's crud.
