Electronic Stability Program. When it works it's great, when it doesn't, it's a bugger!

from that code it looks like a dead sensor so go to a dealer and find out which sensor it is and if you can get a part number then feel free to ask in the vagparts forum

Only the Mk4 GTI (rare!) did not come with ESP. All Mk5 GTI's had the ESP as standard, at least they did in this part of Europe.

Are there non-ESP GTI's in Greece?

In my opinion, ESP is only a safety net. You can't still defy the laws of physics...

MK5 GTI's in greece were available in 2 versions
non of them had esp. One of them had climatronic and side airbags and was the most luxurius, The other one a/c and 2 a/b

Advantages - very nice in winter ( ESP accelerates slowly)

Disadvantages - switch off for race

Another question. As i said before greek Gti's don't have esp at all.
I'm about to buy one from germany so that to have esp and climatronic.
Is esp switchable? Is there any esp button on the console or not?
Apart from slippery roads when does esp work?

On UK models, ESP is as standard, its not switchable tho, theres no switch on the dashboard! Its a constant feature! Im not entirely sure of its primary function though!? Electronic Stability Programme - keeps the caron the road i guess! :)

I think it adjust braking force to the calipers to stop the car going into a spin or locking the wheels up.

Mine doesn't have ESP and I've read in the manual (how sad, who reads the manuals?) that ESP is optional if you have ABS (which GTIs have) but there is a button to switch it on and off and that there is a light on the dash, a circle with a triangle inside with an exclamation mark inside...phew..this should light up on the right hand dash, around the 120-130mph mark...guess if you have this then you have ESP, if not...bugger...

I would have thought you would be able to add this on as an extra but at what extra cost?

I've got a 2001 Model and it, as far as I can tell, doesn't have ESP (or traction control which I guess is part of the ESP system). Does any kind of light or anything like that light up on the dash when the ESP/TC kicks in ?
