Oil Filter idea?

anyone heard of this before? to me it sounds like a good idea and would be a cheap mod? i guess it works like a heatsink on a pc processor.
any thoughts welcome

Not gonna make a blind bit of difference
The surface area of the oil filter will not be able to dissipate much heat through contact with that. Think how much hot oil is flowing through the filter when your revving the engine hard.
A proper oil cooler is needed.

cheers dan, i thought it was a bit unlikely, if all you had to do was stick a little bit of metal around the oil filter to reduce the temp, why hasn't every car got that from the factory.

a) That's not a lot of heat sink
b) The area where the oil filter lives isn't exactly the coolest place in the car.
