Sounds more like a carb problem to me

welcome to the forum mate, nice looking car you got there.
it's normal for the warning lights to flash when you turn the key, i have to tap the gas pedel when i turn the key but i've just come to accept it, don't think anything of it, and the head gasket, have you got white stuff inside your oil filler cap (universally known as "mayonaise") if you have then it's not definate still but it's a good sign.
i'm sure someone else will be able to tell you in more detail about head gaskets and things
