Extended warrenty?

Has anyone managed to get an extended warrenty out of interest?
I know that in January 05 the FSA were looking into the extended warrenty which VW sold, and that last I heard you still couldnt get one.
Mine ran out March/April time, and was told to put my name on a list and I would be called when it was possible to extend the warrenty ... havent heard anything as yet, though to be honest I'm going to be going over to another car in the summer (one with a warrenty).
