Parking light

My mums has just got a 1993 polo coupe and it seems to have a parking light.
Couple of questions, when the indicator is left on and you turn off the car the parking light comes on. Does it ever go off?
Does it drain the hell out of the battery?
Other than not leaving the indicator on (which my mum keeps forgetting) is there a way of disabling the parking light?
Cheers

It goes off when you cancell the indicator stalk, the whole idea of a parking light.

Like he said ^^
There's no chance it'll drain you battery over night, not even a little bit.

I agree, turning the indicator off is the best idea, but it's my mum were talking about here, and things are never that easy!! She is getting better with it, but there is always the odd time that she'll leave it on.
If you say it won't drain the battery overnight then that should be OK.

depends how well your battery's charged and if you do this a lot. it's still two 5w bulbs being connected to it..
Just always be careful when you leave it to push the left side of the light switch and centre the indicator, even if you haven't had them on. Make a routine of it, like checking the stick's in neutral before starting. The old polos are all about manual operation - what you do, is what the car does, very little automation outside of the ignition, fuel system, wipers and indicator flash units.
/polo is the reason all the petrol cars i drive in my life will be perma-quipped with a full petrol can and a pair of jump leads as standard kit/
