Quick Battery Question:-

Right, i've got round to taking out the original battery so far. Got myself a new battery.

Just curious, but what is the gooey stuff that is left on the wires? It's sort of like dark browny/grey in color. Shall i remove this stuff before attaching the wires to the new battery?

If not, what is this stuff? I've got some of that waxoyl stuff aswell that people were suggesting to spray in the battery bay. Just a case of cleaning out the bay, and then spraying the new stuff on.

don't know what you mean exactly mate? :? it sounds like petroleum jelly that's been on a while...they recommend that you smear a little onto the terminals to stop moisture.

Oh ok. I'll just clean the terminals and apply some vaseline then. :? Must have been soiled vaseline which has been left on for 2 years?

Cheers mate. :)

i've always used copper slip on the terminal! it protects well and means the terminals won't get corroded onto the battery!
