Was just wondering has any1 managed to cure the constant rattle coming from the passenger side glovebox?!

This is the only rattle i seem to have at the moment and its really bugging me. Also under the passenger footwell do people have a panel or is it meant to be open. I dont have my 9N with me so cant take a picture of what i mean.

My mk4 had a foam panel underneath, but my 9N has nothing, its open as if somethings missing?

One more thing, when u put the car in reverse there is also usually a hissing noise coming from the passenger side somewhere under the footwell. is this normal? When u take it out of reverse gear it stops! so i assume its linked?

I have the same rattle from the glovebox and I'd also love to know how to fix it. Mine seems to come from the handle/locking mechanism, as if I hold it the noise stops.

As for the "hissing" noise when in reverse, it's the air recurculation system -- it switches on automatically when you select reverse to stop your exhaust fumes being sucked in to the cabin as you reverse over them.

Has anyone here tried this and been successful to fix this annoying rattle. Mine is bloody constant, and it does sound like a ball bearing type noise

Also, can someone check their passenger side footwell for me and tell me if there is a panel or foam underneath, as a base of the dashboard. As mine seems open and i wanted to know if there is supposed to be something here?!?

Well had nothing better to do today, so attempted it and managed to get rid of the annoying glovebox rattle completely

Incase any1 wants to attempt to do it, dont worry the airbag wont go off, but i d/cd the negative battery post just in case as removal of the glovebox is quite close to it. It is the yellow connector. I found mine to have a bit of play on it, so i tightened it up and taped it up with insulation tape.

Finally just one more rattle to fix until rattle free driving for me

I've got a rattle coming from the dash it's not the cubby hole bit I think its that plastic strip where the heater blows out onto the windscreen.

It's really getting on my nerves now I can still hear it with the music up

My Cubby Box rattles like no ones business! Will get round to taking it out and smashing it to pieces soon

I find sound deadening stuff works well with hushing up rattles.

Ill probably end up doing the whole car soon

Good idea, I've thought about taking everything out of the car apart from the drivers seat, pedals and steering wheel, something would probably still rattle

Glad you fixed it m8! A year and a bit down the line and people still using my advice!

Same problem here... It's really anoying!

mine just started doing it today aswell

think i will get sorting it tomorrow
