Keep or Sell?

Just got my GTi back from VW where it has been for the last 3 weeks. The car had engine problems which turned out to be a broken valve spring, VW have replaced the spring and an inlet valve (under warranty) and they say that this was just a freak that "doesn't happen" normally. The car is less than 3 years old with 25k on the clock. The trouble is, I've lost confidence in the car now, and with the warranty due to run out next april am in two minds whether to keep it. I love the car and don't want to sell it. What do you think

Did the valve drop? > Was it hitting the piston? > What condition is the piston in?

Don't Know to any of the above, all I know is VW have told me the car is fine, I'm just worried that VW have done as little as possible to repair it as it was a warranty job, Do you really think they would have told me if a piston was damaged and they hadn't replaced it? Obviously this would only show over time and they are probably hoping the car will be out of warranty by then!

i would have thought if the piston was damaged they would have replaced it while the block was in pieces
otherwise they'll have to do a complete re-build when the piston goes.
I'd keep the car til the warrenty runs out, then look at changing it

Don't really want to get rid of it. Took me ages to find a nice black one, and can't really think of anything to change it 4. Had VWs 4 ten years! Unless VW put the 1.8T in the 9N GTi Hmmmm.

Hey Lan sorry to here bout your car dude. I did speak to a VW cales person and VW are thinking of making the next polo an RSI. I believe they gonna look at a 2.0T under the hood to, If I every change my car it would be for this.

My GTi has been a bit of a pain to say the least, here are just a few of the faults:
6 corroded alloys
leaking body seam in the NSF footwell
rust on drivers door
rear ABS sensor
part of the aircon (foggy was not the word for it!)
clutch pedal box.....
Would I sell it? I have been tempted to on more than one occasion, however I doubt that I will.
The reasons are, its great fun to drive and lets face it the 6N2 GTi did not have a very long production run, so it could well be a future classic and something rather cool to be seen in, in years to come.

VW Dealerships should not do any warranty work "on the cheap" as it is in their interests to complete this work (as they get paid nicely for doing it by VW UK!)
