Today, I go to morning driving with some VW guys,
I have try my limit speed in a very long highway,
when I got 203km/h, the speed seems don't wanna to go anymore
Actually, what's our Max. Speed??

And after moring driving, I found that the engine oil drop to Min. level
(I have check before, it's @ middle level)

Why so many oil disappear???

The book top speed is 205kmph or 127mph for the GTI, not sure on the oil front mines has always remained at maximum between services.

203kph is your max speed, I'm pretty sure your revs would have been in the region of 6800rpm. You don't wanna sit on the rev limiter with the minimum amount of oil in the engine.

I check the oil every other fill up of petrol, (400 miles -ish)and I usually have to put 250ml+ of oil in the car. If i have been driving hard it drinks more. So id say i put in 500ml per 1000 miles (1600km) of driving, maybe more.

This is normal, a modern VW engine can drink up to 1 litre of oil per 1000 miles. The thing with the Gti it only holds 3.5 litres, so you have to make sure you keep it topped up. I believe there is 500ml between the min and max mark on the dipstick.

Where did you get the max speed from ? I have the manual in front of me and it says 205kph. Also I would be worried if my car was drinking a litre of oil every 1000miles, I check mine regulary and it doesn't move from the maximum. I do change my oil every 5k though.

In fairness though the difference between 205kph and 203kph in mph is 1.24274238 so it's negligible really.

I said 203 was his max speed, the book says 205, but they (VW testers) also have the car with half a tank of petrol at a set alititude (higher you are thinner the air, less power etc). He might have had passengers, besides the speedo isnt reliable to 1-2kph so he could have been doing as much as 210 kph or possibly as low as 195k kph.

If you had the manual in front of you then you will also see the part that says the engine can consume UP TO 1.0L per 1000 miles.

Now this isn't always the case, like in your car. But in 10k miles it might drink more, again nothing to worry about.

Just thought the figure might have been from parkers who quote it wrong, you'll actually find the manual states up to a litre of oil every 1000km still think that is too much to say that its a safe level that would mean its burning over 4 sump fulls of oil between services thats a lot of oil !! For the 98% of car owners who never check there oil between services that could end in disaster.

Yeh correction, km not miles, which is actually 1.0L to every 620 miles.

VW do offer a oil consumption test (probably for people who have got new VWs, which is when they burn the most oil usually). Personaly once the engine is bedded in you shouldn't be seeing oil consumption figures that high. I'd be interested in how much oil everyone elses Polo burns.
