Hi, I'm new to the forum and i'd just like to make myself known in this area in particular. I'm picking up my 2003 Polo 9N 1.2 (65) SE on Thursday so i'm sure i'll have lots more questions for you all but first off here's a couple.


Can you get them re-mapped, what are the gains?
What kinda gains am I looking at with a better green or K&N filter?
Also been looking at the 17" RS4 alloys that Awesome GTi have in, will these fit? thought Polo had the same stud pattern as the Golf?
Any other simple recommended mods?

Yes you can get a 1.2 remapped, do a bit of looking around. I believe you wont see huge gains and just about everyone will tell you (which you don't have to pay any attention to may i note) that it's not worth trying to get more power out of the 1.2 engine etc etc and to get a bigger engine.

Again that applys to the air filters. Though when i put a K&N air filter in my old 1.2 9n (65) i noticed (v.barely) a bit of response however my fuel consumption improved with the new air filter which was a better bonus for me.

The alloys will fit, just get the right tyre sizes believe the most recommended for 17's are 205/40/17 . The stud pattern of the 9n is 5x100 which is the same as the mk4 golf. The mk5 golf is 5x112 which wont fit without adaptors!

only thing i could add is you'l need rims that are et35 or et38. these will be best suited.
personally i wouldnt bother touching the engine on a 1.2, its only 65bhp and you arnt going to get much power gain at all.

just keep the money for the looks and maybe save for a new engine in the future.
