Right im trying to wire my amp in today and am following Syloviens guide

Now ive got the rubber gromit off to find that i cant get the 4AWG wire through that. I cant even seem to fit a 8awg wire in, but maybe if i force it through it may.

Ideally i wanted to wire in the 4 gauge one, but how would i get it through?!? ideally i dont wanna drill a hole if possible?!

Can any1 help pls?

Alternatively.

Take the wire through the rubber grommet above the passenger side top mount for the suspension.

The grommet should be empty... the one on the opposite side of the car has the bonnet release cable going through it.

To get it through the gommet you will need to remove the wipers and the rain thingy tray as once you've got through the first grommet there is another grommet exactly the same behind it that you can't reach with out taking the rain thingy tray off.

Once you've got it through there shove your hand up the back of your dash, you may have to unscrew one of the plastic bolts holding the sound deadening on. Poke wire through to find the hole easily then shove the wire through after it.

Hope that makes sense however it is probably too late.

Thanks. sounds a bit complicated. Anyway i managed to get it through the hole well below the footwell, but this was a 8awg one. The wire that went into the bay had the insulating slightly scraped off as it was quite tight rubbing against the chassis and the other black wire (alarm one i beleive?) but hopefully the scoring on the wire hasnt damaged the cable itself.

I can use a 8 awg, but would have been nice to have a 4awg just so u dont have to bother with removing everything all over.

However now my amp is flashing the power protection light ?!? so need to search for the problem. Has been a very tiring day trying to simply hook up a amp in the MK6 and even then theres a problem!

Not as complex as you may think, slightly tidier imo


Don't get me wrong, your hands will get raw(ish).... mine did the first time i did it.

Forgot to not that mine is 4awg which is why i also had to take the route i suggested as like you, didn't fancy the idea of drilling.

I think mine will be 0awg when I get round to getting it all!

Although I'll be cheating and paying for it
