Hi all, I have just aquired a mk2 1043 hatch. Great car, totally standard/original, owned by an old boy from new, just went to the shops and back once a week!!
It seems to have the cold start running probs and still has the pooburg carb. Think that will be going straight in the bin!! Been searching and think it will have to be the weber conversion. Quick question, does the weber for the 1300 fit the 1043?
If not which weber do I want?
Be gentle its my first post.
Thanks
Neil

Hello, glad to have a new mk2 owner around here, might take some of the heat off me for selling up
Good call on getting rid of the old Pierburg, they're awful things. However, you won't be able to fit a weber from a 1.3 without a bit of work. The carb you want is the weber 32TL or 32TLA (manual / automatic choke respectively). The 32TLA was fitted to some late mk2 1 litres, the 32TL is more an aftermarket thing but the manual choke gives you a welcome amount of control - I've never really been a fan of auto chokes, they just seem to cause problems with starting and tuning the carb.
You got any photos of your car? Would be nice to see it

Cold start problems often arise from this:
- temperature sensor broken
- small hoses from the underside of the air filter box missing or not cnnected properly (there are two where the crankshaft ventilation hose enters)
