Hey anyone knows what the black plastic is that comes with the car, is it just a simple template, or can it actualy open the door. Just found it in the VW holder thing.

To cold to go outside......

Isn't it incase of breakdown? I think you can use it to start the car.

Can anyone clarify this?

The little key, which I think you on about, is the 'emergency key' and is meant to be used if you loose the main key.

Works with all locks and will start the car, for temp use only though

Mine did not come with one, nor come with the keycode tag or a spare key :( had to order a spare main key

I think it's the valet key. You can leave it with garages for services or valet parkers.

I think it limits the time you have to start engine after opening the car with it. Also I don't think you can unlock the glove box with it.

Not 100% on this. Give it a try.

I'm pretty sure the little plastic key doesn't start the car but does open the locks.

i think the key has got the immobiliser number printed on it, so you take it to vw if you loose your original key, so that they can charge you a bomb for a new one

As said mit's a spare for when s**t happens. Don't count on it as a long term solution as it will fall apart.

Yes, thats got your key number on it.

They'll still need to see your V5 and ID, and they'll still need the car to program it into the ECU.

You can still order a new key without having the keycode thing thru the dealer, they would require your car's chassis number to do this

(I've done this with success)
