My VW Polo 9n 1.9TDI PD has a 3 step muffler:

CAT --- 2nd Silencer --- 3rd Silencer

I replaced the 3rd silencer with a Remus inox muffler...

My questions is if I can remove the 2nd silencer and replace it with a straight pipe.. 8)

Can I break the turbo? There is a real gain of HP or only more sound?

My worry is to loose torque in low rpm and high temperature on turbo/exhaust...

There are user that use this exhaust configuration?

Thanks!

My 1.4 TDi has a CAT and one muffler. Replacing the mufflers with high flow ones or straight pipes will drop exhaust gas temperatures by a big amount and reduce the load on the turbo. I replaced my muffler with a high flow Magnex one, there is no power worth mentioning but the turbo spools a lot faster and my fuel economy seems to be higher.
I hope this helps
