Anyways, I upgraded my headunit to a very smart pioneer one, bought the cubby hole from VW (£17.06 inc vat) and it all looks very nice. It also sounds good too but I think it could do with a set of nice speakers (in the front at least) to really finish the job off.
So, firstly

What size are the original speakers?
Can aftermarket speakers be fitted easily?
Would it be best to go for comps and upgrade the tweeters at the same time or just d/c the tweeters (std vw) and put in some coax?
Anyone know of any that will fit in fairly easily?

Firstly, i dont think theres much point upgrading the speakers unless you buy an external amp, it wont sound MUCH better, but if you have a spare bit of cash it wont hurt, i'd probably invest in sound deadening in the doors as well/instead.

Not really, pretty difficult compared to other cars, but it can be done in an hour or 2.

Up to you really, the tweeters and mids are really far apart so some people go for coax. for better imaging, but i went for components.

Budget? any 6.5" will fit
