I am in the market for a gti, and having owned a 6n for seven years that has a sunroof , I was hoping to get a gti with one as well.

But, looking at the cars with sunroofs that are for sale, they all seem to have air con as opposed to climate .

Is the reason for this being, that if a sunroof was specified as a factory option, the car had to have air con instead of climate, or is it purely chance that the ones I have seen only have air con What have the gti owners with sunroofs on here got?

Having climate in my other VW (02 Passat), and having had air con in the previous car to that (02 Bora), I know the pro's & con's of both and would much rather opt for climate control . If I really have to forego the sunroof to have climate, then so be it.

I notice a couple of non sunroof gti's that i have seen also have air con, is there a reason for this e.g. year of manufacture / import ?

Not entirely sure if it's correct but I think the earliest "pre-alignment" models had odd specs, and some had no a/c even

mines got a sun roof and climate control, so they are out there.

Thanks Neil. I guess it must be purely by chance that the 3 I have seen that have a sunroof, only have a/c then.

At least I know what I want is out there now, it is just a matter of having the patience to wait for the right spec..............

I have an electric sunroof and climate control as well.

Bah. I have A/C and a sunroof - and in this smashing weather I'm loving it!

does the electric one in the gti operate in the same way as the manual one on the 6n i.e tilt up or slide open?

It has 3 settings,

1 is the tilt
2 is half slid back
3 fully slid back
