Brake upgrades for an early MK2?

I'm taking the advice of the 'other Gareth' and sourcing a pair of VWII calipers, vented discs and the carriers from a MK3 polo.
Can you uprate the rears cheaply? Or the master cylinder?
I'm looking to do as many upgrades to the running gear of the car as possible using all factory parts.
Thanks yet again for any help

I'm about to fit some G40 front brakes onto my Mk2, fairly straight forward I think, gonna upgrade to dot 4 though, I've heard of people using Passat master cylinders, but I'm not to sure.

aye, the G40 upgrade is the easiest and cheapest, braided brake hoses, you can put in a remote brake servo from a company called lockwood but it isn't cheap, i think a guy did it on his mk2 G40 on club polo, and it is possible to do a rear brake disc conversion too (Robz had done it to his project car)
i'm thinking of just doing the G40 brakes upgrade, wouldn't be able to afford anymore

the master cylinder upgrade is just for the mk3. Youre pretty much stuck barring a servo conversion otherwise. You can fit rear discs to a polo rear axle, but handbrake cables require some fabrication. On GT and G40 models they have a load compensator and bigger rear wheels cylinders. But most people dont notice the difference between the two.
