Who ARE you, dude? Someone on here? Or a spammer... I'm sorry, it's just that I'm paranoid of viruses and the like so I don't add anyone I don't recognise or hasn't asked. I know people's emails and usernames can be quite different and not linked so I gotta find out :)

This message has popped up and I've pressed cancel on it about a squillion times so far because I just hadn't the opportunity to come and ask!

u can do that? i've always had them as just an address, no message attached - but either they've asked on a board somewhere, or the address is easily recognisable.

here i'm just lost. it's probably an ok geezer from ukp or porka (not sure where else has my msn, heh) but i'm stuck with the name and no request has been given. it just doesn't look like a spammers name. what gets me is i haven't the option to "refuse temporarily with reason" or whatever ... just accept, perma-block, or cancel :-/ they've probably long forgotten they ever asked!

could accept, ask them who they are, and have a finger poised over the "block" button

Theres no virus/worm/trojan risk from just talking to someone on MSN - its receiving files thats dangerous. Just add them, find out who it is, block them if you dont know them.

eh, screw it, its obviously no-one here.

besides, following a little googlism that i never thought to try before (thanks for the PM logistix, seems we had the same idea at the same time), i just blocked 'em and dropped 'em. why?

because the most intelligble thing i could find on the net for the screen name was:

.... turkish estate agents. If that doesn't shout "SPAM!" i don't know what does. Byeeeeeee Uysal.

'sides, the email address turned up nothing.
(a little background from logistix pm to me: apparently Emlak means Estate Agency in turkish... so they weren't even exactly hiding it, at least, if i knew turkish though wouldn't have!)

lol, i was going to reply saying that if they are going to spam people on their msn's they should be more selective and not spam people from across the continent. But then i visited their site and their portfolio includes houses in the south-west region of Turkey, near the Mediterranean coast. With the newly passed law that states foreigners can buy land and property in Turkey, and the increasing number of European foreigners settling in these coastal regions, their spamming range makes more sense now

plus the surprisingly wide range of language options on that page... turkish, english, russian (i think it was?), and at least 2 or 3 more

who spams over instant messenger? it must be like cold calling telesales only they can not only spit vitriol back in your face, but send you pictures of their arse too
