Cheers

At 4ks the valve timing changes to make them open longer/further? I think anyway.. for more power?

Do you mean like a vtec timer that you can use on honda civics, etc.
I was thinking if this could be possible

Well lotus reckon that there is 2 cams in the elise and it switches from one to another at certain revs - personally i'd say it wasn't possible and i also think VVT is just another badge to the name

vvt = Varible valve timing
what this is, is at a certain rev level ie about 4500rpm on the GTi the ecu tells the engine to drop another valve in incressing power!!!
its a way for the manufactures to get around the emisions laws because a MOT is tested i read at 3000rpm i think.
Something like that anyway. there is lots o stuff bout it on the net.
all a boost controler does is it over rides the ecu when to drop the extra valve in! so you can tell it to kick in nice and low down the rev range!
