I know that when I phoned Audi (thinking my mum and dad had Xenons but don't

)
The bulb was just over £90 + fitting

I beleave its a Xenon philips bulb which is approx £55 however its a bumper off job to replace it. I would give the fuse a check as if I remember correctly theres a separate fuse for each side so it could have just popped.

crap fcuking design on VW's part to have to take the bumper off to change a bulb - p*** poor.

Not sure you should try this yourself tho mate. Can't think where I got this from but I'm pretty sure that a fairly heavy electricity current runs through those bulbs, so it's best done by an expert.

Above info is true, very high voltage to power them!
But if you remove fuse and let the voltage drain you could be okay hehe

i'm sure i remember someone saying there is a roundabout way to get in to it without taking off the bumper...

As above, not something you should attempt yourself if you don't know what you're doing.
I'm sure I heard a story of someone at BMW having one explode on them because it hadn't been discharged properly.
