Just got dusted by a Fiesta Zetec S - (help)

Hey guys,

I need some assistance, I was driving down a dual carriage way at about 35 in 2nd and a Zetec S was hovering next to me. He planted it, I planted it and he took off, about 6 car lengths infront. I only caught up when we slowed down for the lights then he took a right.

I looked up some figures for it, 0-60 is 9.9, with a top end of 114!

I need somoene to reccomend a good rolling road/garage who can help me in Leeds or West yorks. Any ideas what the problem could be? Its really annoying cause the car seems to run fine, I had optimax in it too!

Cheers in advance

Thats unlucky! one of them burned me in my old 1.4 8v mk4 and hated it, yet i've thrashed one in the GTi....unless the fiesta was hiding some mods...you never know!

are you sure they're the right figures? the zetec s is a 1.6 if i remember right!? would be better times than that?

my dad had a zetec 1.25 for a bit and that went to 115 and i know the 1.6's would beat the GTi in standard form...

The figures are correct. They only have 98bhp and are actually heavier than the Polo by about 25kg.

Not the Zetec-S. They have around 105bhp as standard.

If you check out their Owners Club at www.zsoc.com you'll see that many of the cars are running more than the standard 105bhp, after they've had them on a rolling road. There's also quite a few performance bits and pieces available for them.

If he pulled six car lenghs on you, and you're planted in 2nd, I'm presuming it's a 'tweaked' one :D

My girlfriend's sister has one and it's a nice little car. I did look at them but liked the Polo's build quality and look better. Great handling car though too.

dont think the zetec s would beat a standard gti.
my mate had one and my gti wiped him, both cars
standard.

What do you exactly mean by 'wiped'? As quite a few standard Zetec-S's are putting out 115-120bhp. I'd imagine it would be quite close, within a car's length. If you're talking about more, either one is tweaked or one's not working properly!

Yeah a lot of ZS's are known to be pushing 115bhp as standard. That was going to be my next car until I discovered the Polo GTI

There's no doubt a few standard GTi's putting out 130+

You can never go by quoted power.

Very true - you'd have to put both cars on the SAME rolling road, on the same day, to be sure :D

By 65bhp 3 cylinder you mean your 200+ bhp

I was thinking instead of having the RS badge on the back you should have stuck TT on there.

A Polo TT 8)
