Hey there,

Is there any sort of walkthrough or FAQ on this particular subject? I remember seeing one yonks ago, but it dissolved into the floor somewhat.

I need advice and information on changing the clocks in my mk2 parade. They came with a speedo and a comically large clock, instead of a rev counter, as you might know.

I want to get a clockset from a coupe S and plonk 'em in, but I have questions. Is it a straight-in affair? Is there anyway to retain the mileage from my old clockset (42,000)?

For things to be perfect I'd need a guide, and answers to the questions.

rite... this depends on how "technical minded" you are.....

they are a DIRECT replacement, all wireing is there ready,

but to keep the original milage.... u need to have a look at the back of the unit, there are a few bolts and connectors that come off, the WHOLE thing comes apart..... if ur technically minded..... shouldnt be a problem.... so just swap the speedo into the new Coupe S unit!

I did this just the other day on my mk2 parade. It's a bit fidly but just stop and count to 10 every now and then.

I did have to file the corner of my speedo a very small amount to get it to fit but nothing major.

It's my first mod to the car.

Thanks for the replies, the answers from both here and Club Polo have been a great encouragement and precisely what I wanted to hear.

I'm technically minded to the common degree (able to build PC's fine and such sort, but PC's are simple after all), so I shouldn't have any problem. At the same time as taking the clocks out I will be replacing the surround fascia with one from the coupe S (the red trim is a nice OEM touch that should surely be the tip of the black and white iceberg.), so I shouldn't have to fidget and fiddle quite AS much to get it in.

I'll let you know how it goes, the car isn't 'relied' upon yet (Haven't even passed the test just yet) so there's no real worries if I run into trouble.

Likewise, glad to read here. I have a mk2 TWIST lol. and I want to put a S panel in. Just got to find one now, non of my local scrappies have any now i want 1.

I dont supose if anyone knows if the mk2 polo speedo clocks are the same as the mk1 Jetta?
i've just recently brought a mk1 jetta, and it has a clock, instead of the rev counter. was just curious if i could fit the polo clocks in, and get the rev counter wrking on the jetta. are all the cables there?
