Gear box problem's

Hi im new to the site. i have a 51 reg mk 5 polo gti 6n2 and have owned it for about 7 month's now. has any one on here had problems with there gear box's? i have allready had mine rebuilt at 34000 miles and it now needs redoing at 36000. i have being told that the gear box's are toffy and go all the time but can any1 shead some light on things???
i also heard something about the right type of gear box oil for them?

That don't sound to good only 2000 miles and it needs re-done.
I've only had mine just under 2 months and it developed a whine from the boxafter about three weeks the garage said it was a worn bearing but it wasn't terminal and not to bother doing anything.

the main problem seems to be wen the car is not movin and not in gear. im getting it redone on the warrenty tomorrow so ill see if that sorts it. did vw do yours?

I would get it sorted if the bearing wears out and its the diff bearing it will take the whole box with it. If the box is getting re-built it would normaly include replacing all the bearings in the gearbox/diff.
Sometimes garage put 2nd hand boxes in to replace dud ones and then rebuild the dud one, the problem with this is that the 2nd hand box could be on the verge of needing a rebuild anyway.

Hear so many times about our Gearbox have problem
But can anyone tell what influence obvious be found when
Gearbox have problem??
