Hi all, im new

I want to put 16" BBS RX wheels on a mk4 6n2 polo gti, id also like to lower the suspension to tuck the wheels nicely under the arches. So i have 3 questions

1. What Offset will i need for wheels, and what wheel width would be best ?

2. What tyre size should i get ?

3. what would be the best coilovers to buy, or is there a normal suspension kit that will do the job just as well ? (handling has to be very good)

This is exactly the look im trying to achive, i just want to keep a standard look but want to fill those arches without going over the top and definately no wheel scrubbbing

Hello DubGTI, welcome to the forums!

The look you are after is very similar to that of one of our other member's cars (CymruPolo), hope he doesn't mind me popping a pic of his car up:

So in answer to your questions:

1. Wheel width is 6.5J... I *think*, ET can be from 43 to 37 or so?

2. 195/45/16 is probably the standard offering on a 16" rim, 195/40/16 is best for looks (lower profile rubber) but is probably a harder ride due to the decreased size if the sidewall.

3. For dampers and shocks, CymruPolo bought FK unbranded kit from German eBay which lowers 60mm (front) and 60/40mm (rear). Coilovers are much more expensive but will allow you to adjust the ride height (and rebound if you splash the cash) to your own preference. Choose from FK, KW, Eibach amongst many others.

HTH :D

Cheers for the reply, thats a great help

I found out that Eibach do stainless steel coilovers now, so no more rusted up thread, probably a fair bit heavier but id say worth it

they are only listed for the 9n tho not the 9n2, strange i would of thought the GTI is more of a priority than the non sport models :?

1. BBS RX are 7jx16 ET35

2. 195/40/16 is the most appropriate tyre size, in order to maintain your speedo accuracy

3. There is so much choice, it is down to personal preference/budget.
