M3 mirror base plates

Hi,

I'm getting a set of M3 mirrors off a mate on the cheap before he sells his car de-modded.

It has an Astra base plate on it. Just wondering if M3 mirrors are a generic pattern so I can buy base plates that fit a Polo from any manufacturer?

I have no idea what make the mirrors are but I've seen base plates from the likes of Type VR, FK and Ultra for a Mk4 Polo.

Cheers,
Mo

your best bet will be to go to your local halfords and ask em to try one of their base pkates on your mirror fella

Cheers, for the advice.

I was looking on eBay and have seen base plates with a triagular cut out to seat the mirror and other ones where the mirror is attached by its two M3 prongs.

I decided to just buy a new set of M3 mirrors. I spotted a set with baseplates specific to the car as well as having indicators and being electronic adjustment.

Only thing was they were chrome :? they were £50 all in from Essex Racing.
Got them yesterday and the Chrome finish looks quite good but not my cup of tea also came with 6n bases.

Right my Polo is Fjord Blue should I:

1.Colour code the mirrors body colour?

2. Paint them Black?

3. Leave them Chrome finish?

Cheers,
Mo

definitely colour code them unless your using back throughout the car to break things up. black and blue will go well together.

i'm stickin to a black and red type theme.

I'm sticking with black handles and mirror bases as well as the bump strips.

I think I'll colour code the mirrors though... shame about the chrome finish though it looks like rather a good quality chroming as well, but I reckon it would look crap on my Polo.

I've still got to colour code a Hella spoiler too which is black, was considering a proper black and blue theme.

goin with the black and blue theme could work, or could go along the lines of folk sayin 'f*ckin hell, whens this lad gettin those bits sprayed?'. just get everythin colour coded including the bases and handles. might aswell get it done as one. take off the bumpstrips if your not goin for the black and blue theme

Yep, looks good. I think it's time to order some paint and some scotchbrite pads to get rid of the chav chrome
