Quick ICE Question

I've decided to get either the JVC KW-AVX706 (
http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product ... ts_id=5282) or the KD-AVX2 (
http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product ... ts_id=4907) for my GTI but I need to know a couple of things before I go ahead and choose one.
- I notice these units offer surround sound, but I don't have a sub or centre speaker. Can I run the unit on just my standard 6 speakers without any problems?
- Will these be compatible with my standard VW CD Changer in the boot?
Help would be much appreciated, thanks (apoligies to mods in advance for posting in wrong section, just need quick response surprised.gif )

I should imagine so yeah, there's a hell of a lot that goes into making a Surround Sound Sytsem, so I wouldn't worry about that much.

No, CD Changers are usually only compatible with H/U the same make as them, e.g a Pioneer changer would need to be used with a Pioneer H/U

Bugger, I wonder if there is some sort of connector thing? If not I will have to go for the MFD sat nav

Yeah that's the one. If I want the JVC plus a CD Changer, I will have to buy a new JVC Cd Changer and I ain't prepared for that hassle.
So now I'm just gonna get an MFD off ebay, but I don't know which version - there a versions A to G or something and some have the latest CD's, some have a CD slot but only use it to load from the disc...argh I'm confused. Whatever is the latest and whatever can also act as a single slot CD player I'll go with. Can't find any info on the net

It would be ok if the changer was under the passenger seat like in the Mk7. Just a pain that I'd have to stop the car to change CD's on very long journeys if I wanted to change CD's

dont see what the big fuss is with a CD changer? neither of them are high end sound quality units anyway so not going to make a major difference if you use original cd's, copies or mp3's as your source material.
why not just use mp3 cd's with the JVC up front? you would get as much content on one disc in mp3 format as you would in an entire magazine in a normal cd changer. more to the point- not exactly a big hassle switching over the discs up front either is it!!

There is a 12 disc JVC that plays MP3 for around £120

Yeah that's what's putting me off. If I sell the car in a few years I'd be putting the ICE back to standard. Don't want them moving wires. The JVC may not fit in the boot and I may end up with 2 changers in the car! (More weight = less power lol
