Vokswagen Mk4 R32 or Ford Focus RS

Post by Dee-vub »

Well i am already looking into a new car for when i get my 2nd year NCB soon and i'v come down to these two. now i know everybody is gonna be slightly biased towards the R32 for obvious reasons, but i want everybody to be as honest as possible!!!

Can anybody post me up stats of the 2 cars for comparison

Give your honest oppinions on the 2 cars, what you would prefer and why.

Iv checked insurance and they are relatively the same.......both through Bell:
2003 R32 - £1255
2003 RS - £1125

And fully comp!!!! Let me know folks!

Not sure what either of them drive like, but I'd say the R32 all day.

Not because it's a VW, but imo it looks a lot better, has Xenons which I now love, and seats to die for.

If it was me, I'd willingly pay £500 a year more to insure one :D

The R32, apparently the Focus RS is a track day king but on normal english roads its like being in cement mixer.

Both look good for very different reasons

both do 0-60 in the same time, if you want to repsected have the golf, if you want all the pikeys in their baseball caps to crowd round your nice new car, have the focus

Yeah the fords are known for their brilliant track day ability but for driving around they are sh!t !

Seen and read quite a few articles, shows on them and the steering in spose to be well twitchy and not to good when just needing to drive to work and back instead of being on the track all day !

Go for the r32

but now its the colour question !

For me its the blue !

daily driver - the R32 everytime.

weekend fun on the occasion as a second car would be a difficult toss up between the two.

if you are looking for out and out tuning potential though, the ford turbo engine has some MEGA potential, they havent been around too long and i know of a couple of 350/400bhp+ examples that are supposed to seriously insane.

I've driven both - the R32 is much nicer to drive IMO plus you get the quality of VW that u just dont get with ford - also imo stay as far away from ford as you can!

the R32 is also very tunable!! saw one at the Gti Festival with a turbo conversion and it was running like close to 450bhp i think!
there was also a Beetle RSI there (same engine i think?) that was running a twin turbo with 560bhp!!!
so theres much tuning potential with the R32 aswell as the RS!
