Not having much luck with my GTi these past few months, currently its 20hp down on power and now I think the clutch is/about to go.
Anyone here tried to SACHS clutch? If so do you know where I can source one? Also do you know if it is the same clutch for ARC or ARY engines?
Cheers in advance!

The Sachs one is the way to go, you can get it from eurocarparts. Not sure if its the same for both ARC & ARY I would have thought they would be the same though.

From my original post...
''i got my sachs clutch fitted by a vw specialist after getting quoted over 600 to have a new one fitted by vw!!!
go on euro car parts, call your nearest branch, give them your reg and say you want a sachs clutch kit (inc plate, bearing etc)
http://www.eurocarparts.co.uk/branch_locations.htm
this cost just over £90 then get a quote from a local vw specialist mine charged me about £140 for everything including a new vw clutch cable. (which is worth doing at the same time)
the sachs kit feels alot lighter through the pedal and just generally feels alot more positive, for example when your using clutch control in traffic on hills etc etc.
P.s my original clutch was knackered at about 55k (previous women owner) - it was completly shagged when the mechanic showed me, when i collected the car. its even improved the overall feel of the gearchanges etc because its engaging properly. very smooth.
p.p.s the specialist i use is -
http://www.colingunning.co.uk superb place
hope this helps Very Happy''

Just rang those guys up and asked for a quote on sachs clucht kit for polo GTi supply and fit - the guy said sorry there isnt a kit for your car and the way I'll have to do it is to order the parts separately from VW ie clutch pressure plate bearings etc.. £170 for parts! £150 for labour excluding VAT..
Not slating the place at all - as I've never been - but strange they can't source a kit for the GTi when they are a VW Audi specialist?

Had my GTI about a month before my clutch went, got the sachs clutch from euro for a bout 85 quid and fitted it myself, made a world of difference to the driving experience.
