Does the 9n have this feature where it warns you when your pads are low?

Yes there is. There are pads without the indication wire though

Watch out for Qwik fit. They cut the indicator wire when fitting brake pads. £250 for a VW replacement (whole loom).

I wouldn't always believe the light. I've just changed mine cos the light was getting on my nerves, and there was still 5-7mm left on them. Must have been a misplaced wire in the pad..

Light was on and got kwit fit to change the pads. Now it comes on sporadically. Looks like they might have fukked mine too. See what VW say.

To be honest - i'd rather have plenty of notice rather than 1mm left before the light came on.

Sorry to bump this, but quick question...
My dads indicator comes on all the time now on start-up, he's been told the other week by APS in Brackley, that his pads are only half worn...?
Anyway to get rid of the warning thing? VW avoided the question when my dad asked

The light may come on even though there appears to be plenty of meat left on the pads.
The reason being is that alot of people ignore the warning for as long as possible, because the car still works fine.
The condition of your brakes is NOT something you want to ignore.
Also remember that the inner pad (the one you can't see) may not wear parrallel than the outer pad, so you really need to take a good look at both.
If in doubt, just change them.
They're not expensive, and it really isn't worth the risk.

I think weve all learnt one lesson at least.... DONT GO KWICK FIT!
Second, you dont need the wire but I wouldnt want people to cut it off. It usually only has a wire on one side of the car, when I upgraded my golfs brakes to Tarox they didnt have the senser feed so it was just a case of cable tying the wire to the bracket there.
