Hey guys, im getting a substantial knocking noise on my front/left when I release throttle and car begins decelarating. Im thinking its possibly a driveshaft/diff/possibly gearbox? kinda area...

Bit worried as I have only just bought her.

Are there any known or common problems that the polo 9n TDI 100 sport suffers with?

Also does the polo GT have the same gearbox/drivetrain setup as the 100?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

I'd be interested to know what it is as i get a knock from the front left sometimes when lifting off the throttle.

The GT has a different six speed gearbox, it takes advantage of the higher torque of the 130hp engine.

Have you had your bushes or anti roll bar's replaced?

hey, iv got a GT, and had a similar problem, just in nutural, or a low gear nt reving, you can hear a slight rubbing noise (as if the pad was brussing against the disc), but once the car has warmed up this seams to go away, took it down to the local vw, and they fitted a wheel spacer, but the noise is still there, but lately, a few people with the same engine iv been speaking to, have said the same thing :-S,

HI 9n GT with six speed gearbox has a fault with the gearbox mount there is a mod for this "reqs some lube on it" its for a knocking noise if it does it more over bumps

Drivetrain is completely standard.

I fitted some monty 2's on saturday, m thinking there could be an issue with the larger diameter tyre... tyres are straight off the golf the montys come with.

Could this extra strain put too muich pressure on he car?

Smaller profile tyres needed once problem is fixed?

What profile etc you using?

I have 205/45 on my Monty 2's with no issues (touch wood)

gonna have to get lower profile me thinks!

Just bought a couple of brand new goodyears aswell.

Well, got some news, apparently like a dumbo I didnt do up the wheel nuts on the n/s front tight enough so thats what the noise was apparently!

But the tyres were too big anyway so im getting some 45's put on!



Will let you all know how i get on.
